Xiringoscopio
xiringoscopio is the last kiosk - restaurant designed by j salinas located in Adra.
the main concept is framing the views for having a non static picture of the sea. the second point of interest at the beginning of the design was the idea to create a restaurant bar usable during all the year so the owner could afford the investment easier than having a design optimum only for summer. so the versatility is one of the higher feature for this new design.

Emplazados en Adra - Competition winner
COMPETITION FIRST PRIZE
j salinas in collaboration with Claudia Cruz from Estudio Unitekt, Mr. Antonio Garcia and Sir Paco Parra wins a competition in Adra for restructuring of "Puerta del Mar" square and building one kiosk - restaurant beside the city hall.
the main idea for the design, was holding the flux of movements of the people by the existing square, and create a pergola that protect the square and the kiosk from the solar incidence.
so the first step was creating a shape (pergola) that could hold deciduous climbing plants (ivy) that could work fine for all the year (protecting during the summer and leaving the sun rays during the winter).

Chiringuito "La Moraga" - Step 01 - Competition Winner
COMPETITION FIRST PRIZE
j salinas wins a competition in Adra for the construction of two kiosk - restaurants beside the beach.
the main concept is a passive design based on the solar angle during the most busy periods, so the shape has been thought for creating the maximum amount of shadows in the restaurant during the lunch time in summer period. also the orientation and the organization of the shapes have considered the strong winds of the area, so the main volume has been located to protect the mail space of the restaurant.

Chiringuito La Moraga - Step 0 - Shape generation
as we can see in the video above, all the criteria in which is based the the final shape of the chiringuito, has been parametrized in grasshopper, for improving all the variables that we would like to optimize: shape + wind and sun protection.

void - 7 : Wind Firefly, Taiwan: Façade
A contest colaboration with void7 studio formed by Álvaro Guinea and Irma Coello.
The collaboration consisted in design a parametric tower, with a parametric and structural fachade, so after creating the structural law for the fachade, there where infinite solutions, that solves the way how the structure works.
Under this lines, we can see a few solutions developped in Grasshopper and the evolution of the law.

BEGOÑA's PFC - GH Modelling
As a modullar project, when I saw her design, we decided to help each other. So I model her Idea in GH, and afterwards we do some shape / sun / shadows analysis to the model parsing the results to external files.
She has the law in ther mind, but she didn't know about GH, so I started a parametric model with the idea she had and this is the result of introducing a predefined law with several parameters in GH.
Of course the recursivity of this proccess was the main reason for using GH because we could adapt the shape and the law to several procces changes or evolution of the idea.

void - 7 : Wind Firefly, Taiwan: Substructure
Structural design in grasshopper for a contest developped by Void7 with several engineer offices.
In the video below, we can see how the main volumes deliver their charges into the structural fachade with a parametric law for the length and location of the bars.

void - 7 : BeoHala, Belgrade
Contest collaboration with Void7.
In this first collaboration with Álvaro and Irma, my assignment was to model and work in the 3d concept + develop a roof that works like a sunflower optimizing the sun caption though the whole year. Once it was modelled and rendered I worked with / for Nicolas Gutierrez in the final images.

void - 7 : BeoHala, Belgrade: sun roof analysis
Creation / analysis of a "sunflower" style cover, that adapts their orientation to the positin of the sun.
As we can seein this short video, the panels adapts their orientation as we move the point of attracton. Afterwards, we change this point by the sun vector, and we have an optimized sun captor cover.
