Xiringoscopio

xiringoscopio is the last kiosk - restaurant designed by j salinas located in Adra.

the main concept is framing the views for having a non static picture of the sea. the second point of interest at the beginning of the design was the idea to create a restaurant bar usable during all the year so the owner could afford the investment easier than having a design optimum only for summer. so the versatility is one of the higher feature for this new design.

Emplazados en Adra - Competition winner

COMPETITION FIRST PRIZE

j salinas in collaboration with Claudia Cruz from Estudio Unitekt, Mr. Antonio Garcia and Sir Paco Parra wins a competition in Adra for restructuring of "Puerta del Mar" square and building one kiosk - restaurant beside the city hall.

the main idea for the design, was holding the flux of movements of the people by the existing square, and create a pergola that protect the square and the kiosk from the solar incidence.

so the first step was creating a shape (pergola) that could hold deciduous climbing plants (ivy) that could work fine for all the year (protecting during the summer and leaving the sun rays during the winter).

Chiringuito "La Moraga" - Step 01 - Competition Winner

COMPETITION FIRST PRIZE

j salinas wins a competition in Adra for the construction of two kiosk - restaurants beside the beach.

the main concept is a passive design based on the solar angle during the most busy periods, so the shape has been thought for creating the maximum amount of shadows in the restaurant during the lunch time in summer period. also the orientation and the organization of the shapes have considered the strong winds of the area, so the main volume has been located to protect the mail space of the restaurant.

ALGORITMO PROYECTUAL - PFC

End of Degree project

An investigation about new analysis / representation / design generation methods (digital ones) for spatial creation. I started the PFC (end degree project) thinking in the way of doing a personal reflection about what was going to be my proffesional orientation, so my interests in that momment were introduce the new digital ways of creating architecture to a traditional programme in an historical city.

Then, thinking in the programme and subjective parametres like relevance of water for Istanbul, started this investigation, about geometry, reoresentation, analysis, etc.

Finally, the project is a re-reintrepetation of some spatial investigations (Uzton + Kiesler) of the sixties with the newest language in architecture.

TELESCOPIC CUCUMBER oR CUCUMBERSCOPE

LAST DESIGN COURSE with Juan José Mateos, in UEM.

Hammam in Yenikapi (Istanbul). Design based on views. With a 3D Model of the city + Grasshopper analysis I detect the best position in the terrain and the altitude for having the best views (5 mosques + rest of the city + sea).

So, the final design are three buildings (3 programmes) that are optimized for having the best views in each programme.

AxA - ZFGV

A colaboration with Acebo x Alonso architects during my proffesional trainee with them.

Zona Franca Gran Via was their proposal for the exposition "100 años de Gran Via" exposed in Telefonica building located in Madrid. Their work was generating a very interesting reinterpretation for the main use of Gran Via, along a law they explain the main actuations for creating a free trade zone in Gran Via. This law was redacted in a text and supported by some INCREDIBLE drawings.

So in the exposition they had two main spaces for explaining their actuation. One of them was a 2 x 2 m pannel with this axonometric view of ZFGV and the other one is the one I worked on.

Angel and Victoria wanted a very visual and lo-tech artefact that represents some of the actuations in a random order.

After a few weeks of thinking and searching, we decided to create a machine with some picture frames that simultaneously show the pictures. With two power supplys, some cable, a few of elechtronic components and after a good amount of hand work. We had a few burn injuries on our hands and a great expositive artefact:

RETIRO's larva PAVILION

A pavilion's design for Retiro's park in Madrid. This was the design presented for the 5th course of construction in UEM (Madrid). Presented on Material Gallery - Madrid along summer 2010.

The criteria, was to design a pavilion with the shape of a recognized object with a predefined material assigned by the tutor. My assigned material was wood, so I take a termite's larvae as shape, because it's one of the worst enemys for wood.

As a proccess of investigation, I tried merge all the stages of the design into one parametric proccess, using the power of recursivity, to optimize the shape and final design.

The entire design and building methods have been parametrized, so this design is valid and adaptable to many situations (change of locations, number of rings, temperatures, scale, etc).

e0 residential

e0 residential building in Madrid, where e0 means energy 0 consumption.

the basis of this design was using passive energy systems. So the main concept was creating a sun roof cover that works during the summer, but during the winter leave the sun rays pass throw it.

For the cover I used GH to get the best orientation and angles and then I defined a fachade that works as a sun filter during the summer.
